Hyun is an impact-focused technical leader with over 20 years of experience in AI and software.

He has led various software engineering and AI/ML teams at Waymo and Google since 2012, most recently as Senior Staff Software Engineer and Engineering Manager. His key responsibilities have included:
 

• Tech Lead Manager roles for Waymo Simulation and Safety Evaluation using AI/ML, agent tech and counterfactual analysis

• Google Fiber utility pole detection with computer vision AI/ML

• Building a CRM system for Google's $10B Ads business as Tech Lead

• Hiring and leading over 20 software/ML engineers

He also holds 10 SW patents and publishing over 30 technical papers. Hyun holds a PhD and an MS in Computer Science from UCLA, and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.

He is passionate about sharing his knowledge, and has taught business classes in Ethiopia on leadership and hiring. In his free time, he enjoys running, biking, hiking, and traveling with his family.
